1993 Honda NSX-R

Sackey & Co. | Private Sales is proud to report our sale of this 1993 Honda NSX-R.

The NSX, a relatively risky project for the still burgeoning Honda of the late ‘80s, was introduced in the US market under the Acura brand in 1991 and went on to set new standards for sports car design, production and performance. Noted advancements included the lightweight all-aluminum body, manufactured with precision robotic welding, and novel technologies like the drive-by-wire throttle and electronic variable valve timing systems. Especially regarded was its performance, with a mid-mounted V6 engine, developed with input from Ayrton Senna, that could achieve 270 horsepower and a top speed of 168 mph. Generations of car enthusiasts grew to love the original NSX over the 15 years it was in production and beyond, MotorTrend in 1990 declaring: "We've spent over 100 years developing the automobile. The NSX has made it worth the wait."

Introduced in 1992, the ‘Type-R’ version was modified to reduce the standard NSX weight (265 pounds total) for uncompromised track performance at the expense of some daily comforts, including sound deadening material, power leather seats, power steering, stereo and A/C.
